Scientists believe they may lastly have seen proof for in particular indefinable pit in atom.75 years ago the Majorana fermion was first predicted an element that could be its own anti-particle. Now the team has reported the facts of its experiments in Science journal. Majoranas comprised an amazingly thin wire in contact with a semiconductor and a superconductor.

According to Prof Kouwenhoven If you get a solid fabric and you create the right combinations, the normal particles living in these condensed matter structures, will also obey this important property of Majorana fermions that an element is equal its anti-particle. It should act rather in a different way from more familiar matter particles, such as electrons.

Asian glaciers: putting on mass

9:47 PM / Posted by Megaan / comments (1)

According to researchers some glaciers on Asia's Karakoram Mountains are defying the universal tendency and getting thicker. A lot of the area is unapproachable, and present has been a universal acknowledgment that observations need to be stepped up in order to make clear what is going on. The motive is undecided, as glaciers in further areas of the Himalayas are losing mass which also is the universal trend.

The opinion of Ms GardelleRight is they believe that it might be due to an extremely exact local climate over Karakoram as there have been meteorological dimensions showing increased winter rainfall but that's just a deduction at this period. On the other hand, it also made clear just how sparse data is from the section, finding only these 10 intensively studied glaciers among a total of more than 54,000.

Gene evidence: post traumatic pressure disorder threat

5:08 AM / Posted by Megaan / comments (4)

According to a study vulnerability to post-traumatic stress disorder could be partly determined by gene variants. Symptoms can contain flashbacks, feeling expressively numb or hyper-alert to danger, and avoiding situations that act as reminders of the original shock. PTSD can happen after any type of experience that causes shock, whether that is in war, after a usual tragedy or because of child mistreatment or sexual assault.

It found those who carried two gene variants which affect the production of serotonin - which affects mood and behavior - were more likely to display symptoms of PTSD.According to Dr Goenjian our conclusion may also help scientists uncover alternative treatments for the disorder, such as gene therapy or new drugs that regulate the chemicals responsible for PTSD symptoms.

According to the report unemployment across countries that use the euro edged higher in February to 10.8%. The slowdown is creating a tough environment for job seekers. Italy saw unemployment hit 9.3% in February, the highest level since the country started collecting monthly figures in 2004.

Finance ministers will hope that an agreement to increase the size of the euro zone’s rescue fund will help bolster sentiment. According to Howard Archer, chief European economist at IHS international Insight it looks odds-on that euro zone GDP contracted again in the first quarter of 2012, thus moving into depression.

Spain financial plan: Cuts to total 27bn Euros

5:08 AM / Posted by Megaan / comments (0)

Spain is cutting 27bn euro from its budget this year as part of one of the toughest austerity drives in its history. The government says it will raise 12.3bn euros this year, aided by an increase in tax for large companies. According to Raj Badiani, an economist at IHS Global Insight I suspect that the government could be forced to implement further austerity measures later this year, with lingering economic downturn set to place additional strains on an already perilous budget deficit reduction plan

Last month Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy agreed with the European Commission to reduce Spain's deficit from 8.5% to 5.3% of GDP in 2012. Investors - worried about a bailout for Spain or Italy - wanted the fund to increase from its current size of about 500bn Euros to closer to 1 trillion euros. But there was resistance from Germany to an increase of that scale.
